Monistat: Cure for Vaginal Yeast Infection or Vaginal Thrush

Yeast infection is among one of the common diseases women usually encounter. It is an infection where the yeast in the body has over-reproduced. Yeast infection is also called Candidiasis. Yeasts are naturally found in the body. It can be found in any part of the body, whetehr on the skin, in the mouth, in the intestine and in the vagina. However, most women encounter yeast infection on the vulva, which is also related to internal vaginal yeast infection.

Vaginal itching, while clumpy vaginal discharge, soreness, irritation, redness around the vagina and irritation during intercourse are some common symptoms of Candidiasis. Furthermore, if you have other symptoms such as yellow or green discharge or foul smell during discharge it is wise that you immediately seek medical help.

Candidiasis usually develop in women who are pregnant, diabetic, taking antibiotic or birth control pills or women who have weak immune system. Women who have HIV infection are more susceptible to yeast infection because they have a weak immune system. If you are experiencing any sign or symptom of vaginal yeast infection, it is best that you consult your doctor, so that you can be diagnosed correctly. For candida treatment, you can use some over the counter medication such as Monistat with generic name Miconazole.

Candida cure can either be through medication or through natural approach. However, in this article, we are going to focus on Monistat alone. Monistat is a medication that is used for vaginal candida cure. It alleviates vaginal burning, itching and discharge. Monistat is an anti-fungal that stops the over production of fungus that causes the infection. Moreover, Monistat doesn’t treat other infections that are not related to yeast infections. It also does not prevent pregnancy. Monistat can also be used to treat eye or mouth yeast infection. But, it is not recommended for individuals who are allergic to this medication and other azole anti-fungal.

On the contrary, there are some reported cases of side effects after using Monistat. Some of which are: a temporary increase in itchiness, burning or irritation after the Monistat cream is inserted and may lead to head aches, hives and abdominal cramping. If you encounter some of these side effects, it is best that you stop using Monistat or consult yoour physician at once. Because if not, the problem may result to a more serious infection.

This medication is often used before bedtime. First open the tube, turn the cap upside down and then put the cap at the end of the tube. Press down until seal is broken. Second, attach the applicator to the tube. Third, press the tube. Fourth, gently insert the applicator into the vagina. You can do this while lying down with knees bent and feet flat on the bed or floor, as you push the inside of the applicator. Fifth, remove the applicator gently. It is recommended that you use panty shields because there may be leakage. After usage, wash the applicator with soap and warm water. For external use, just simply squeeze a small amount of cream onto your hands and then apply on the vulva.

After three days of using Monistat and it still doesn’t alleviate the yeast infection, it is wise that you stop using the medication. Or if the symptom returns after two months, it is advisable that you consult a doctor. You may have some health complications not related to vaginal infections.

If you are taking Monistat, it is not advisable that you use tampons. Monistat is not recommended to girls not more than 12 years old. It is also not advisable to pregnant women who are having yeast infection. After usage keep the medication in a safe place and out of reach of children. In case of accidental ingestion, immediately seek the help of a medical professional. Moreover, do not use Monistat that has been tampered with.
